COLETTE SHARES HER STORIES OF FRIENDSHIP IN COSTA RICA . . .

"I spent a total of four weeks in Costa Rica building houses in San Ramon. The entire trip was the best experience I've had so far traveling, and what made it such a good time was the people I formed relationships with. The one week spent together as an entire group taking Spanish lessons and living in the same hostel is what made the group so close. It's amazing, but two months later, we are all still emailing each other with our further travel stories, and planning a reunion in the next year. The entire volunteer group was spread over Costa Rica, but we somehow managed to all get together every weekend, with some people even taking the bus for seven hours to reach a destination".

"Building the houses was a whole other world. I never imagined doing everything by hand, but my body was the fittest it has ever been, and that's the hardest I've ever worked in the heat. You just want to keep going when, the actual family that will be living in the house is working so hard along beside you. They were so grateful for our help, and it was a very rewarding experience."

"I was so moved by the entire volunteer time, that I will be signing up for the new Panda project in China. This time I will spend at least two months, since one month in Costa Rica was not nearly enough!"
